Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Smart Diodes for LED taillights on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required. Now you may have a few auxiliary things that you're gonna want to add in, but these are gonna cover at least safely getting your vehicle down the road. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate and this is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for the rest of the components. And that's where our tow bar is gonna hook up to the arms. The tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the hitch on the RV and the base plate on your towed vehicle. more

Your five main components are going to be your tow bar, which will connect your RV to your Jeep. Your base plate, which is a physical connection that the tow bar connects to, your supplemental braking system, which helps the Jeep to come to a safe and slow stop behind the motor home. A lot of times, you've probably seen the magnetic lights that stick on vehicles and that is just one more component that you have to manually put on there and stow each time you use it. Hey everyone, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a diode wiring kit is just gonna be one of the many things that we need in order to successfully flat tow our Jeep here. Now, what this does is, this is gonna transfer these signals from the motor home to our Jeep. So we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be making, allowing us to arrive to our destination, safe and sound. Now, this is not only a safety requirement, it's also a legal requirement in nearly every state when you're flat towing your vehicle. So it does require that we splice into the factory taillight circuit but it's only two wires on either side. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit here on a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So a diode wiring kit is going to fall under the category of a tow bar wiring, which is just one of the many things you need in order to successfully flat tow your Jeep. Now, there's quite a few different options in regards to that tow bar wiring. The diodes, however, are best, in my opinion. So the reason I like the diode wiring kit is that it actually uses our factory tail lights here. Therefore, we don't have to worry about draping any lights over the vehicle, like some of the magnetic kind and we don't have to worry about actually drilling into or modifying our tail light housing like some of the bulb and socket kits. more

So there is gonna be two different kits available. The one we have here has a six-way round connector and a cable that allows you to plug into the seven-way in the back of your motorhome. The other kit doesn't it come with this cable or the connector, just has a four-way flat type connector so if your motorhome has a four-way flat, you're able to just plug that right in. Hi there Jeep owners today, on our 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's Diode Wiring Kits. Now there are a few different kits available. The big difference between them is which kind of cable you'll get to attach from your vehicle to your motor home. We have a kit available with no cable, which is the one that we are installing today. But we also have kits that come with coily cables, which is ideal if your tow bar has no cable management. We have ones with straight cables, which is ideal for your motor home's tow bar has cable management so you can slide it through those channels unless we have a hybrid cable that is part coyly part straight and that's typically used in a setup where you have cable management, but maybe you need a high-low adapter and there's a extended length between your motor home and your vehicle, so you need a small section of coil to ensure we don't have anything dragging on the ground.There's five main components required to flat tow your vehicle behind your motor home, your base plate being one of the main ones for your vehicle here. more

There are five main components you'll need to flat tow your Jeep behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar and this provides the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables which is a supplemental connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your base plate which is the connection point on your vehicle to attach your tow bar to, your supplemental braking system which allows the brakes that exist on your vehicle to help assist at stopping when you stop in your motor home, and your diode wiring, or supplemental wiring such as magnetic lights, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfers it to those at the back of the vehicle so people around you know your intentions when going down the road. For our tow bar, we're using Roadmaster's Nighthawk tow bar, and this is really the cream of the crop of tow bars.This is definitely one of the nicest ones out there. It's a non-binding tow bar, which I would recommend regardless of what tow bar you choose, to make sure you get one that is non-binding. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit. When we want to tow our Jeep, we're going to need a base plate, tow bar wiring, the tow bar itself, as well as a braking system. Now specifically for our Jeep, we're also going to need an automatic battery disconnect, as well as a charge line kit to make sure our battery stays charged.Whenever we're flat towing our Jeep, it's going to be very imperative that our lights match the same as they do on our motor home. That way, if we're driving down the highway, and we need to change lanes, we can do it safely and everyone knows what's going on around us. Typically, that's going to mean that you're going to mount some kind of external light. Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Roadmaster high powered diode kit with the seven wire to six wire straight cord. Part number is RM-152-98146-7.Now the reason to choose this style of the kit over a coiled wiring kit, would be because your tow bar either has a slot where your wiring will slide through to keep it really nice and neat. Or you prefer a nice neat look where you could zip tie everything together and keep it clean. The diodes are also an important part here protecting both the vehicle and your motor home from any kind of back feed between each other.Now to begin our installation, we're going to get our wiring ran kind of out here on the front of the vehicle, so we can install our plug. We just stretch our four pole wire out underneath the vehicle. We'll bring this up from behind. more

Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we will be having a look at and installing the Roadmaster diode seven-wire to six-wire flexo-coil wiring kit, part number RM-15267, in conjunction with the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. You see we have a nice six-way round connector on the front of our Jeep, with a nice spring-loaded dust cover here, which snaps shut to keep the dirt and elements out of our connector when it's not in use. We have a seven-way RV connector that plugs in the back of our motor home, which adapts down to our six-way round right here. This will give us the umbilical connection that we need in order to transfer our lighting functions from the RV back to our Jeep, thus treating it as a trailer. The diodes that we are using with this kit make it so that we can utilize the vehicle's factory light bulbs and our tail-light assemblies. This way we're not adding an extra bulb to it, or using magnetic tow lights, which you see in a lot of vehicles being flat-towed behind motor homes. This is a nice, clean solution so you just have to plug one cable in between the mobile home and your Jeep when you're towing it, and you don't have to worry about removing lights and having a place to store them. more

We'll also use the Roadmaster seven wire to six wire straight cord kit. This part number is RM-98146-7.To begin our installation, we're going to get our wiring ran out here on the front of the vehicle so we can install our plug. We just stretch our four pole wire out underneath the vehicle. We'll bring this up from behind. Hopkins Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be having a look at and installing the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number HM56200. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. A nice 4-pole flat here in the front of our vehicle. With this applied dust cover, this will treat our Jeep like a trailer when it's towed behind our RV, giving us our, as required by law, lighting that we need. We'll have our turn signals, our lights, and our brake lights that we need in order to safely tow our vehicle. Now, what I really like about this kit compared to other kits on the market is that it's direct plug and play. There is no cutting, no splicing of your factory wiring; no drilling of holes in your tail light assemblies in order to add a separate bulb and socket. This will utilize factory style connectors plugged in line with your tail lights to the vehicle's wiring harness, has diodes built into it so there is no voltage being back-fed into your vehicle's sensitive electrical systems, and it utilizes the factory bulbs so it looks just like stock while it's rolling down the road. Now that we've going over some features of our Hopkins plug and play wiring kit, we'll show you how to get it installed. Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we'll be installing the Roadmaster Diode seven-wire to six-wire Flexo-coil wiring kit, part number RM-15267. All right, here's what the wiring looks like installed. As you can see it doesn't take up very much space on the front of the vehicle at all, tucks up nicely out of the way. This will allow us to safely flat-tow our vehicle behind our RV and have all of our factory lighting functions still work. We don't have to worry about using magnetic tow lights or having an extra set of lights added to the vehicle to tow it. This utilizes the factory light bulbs already in the vehicle utilizing diodes. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon edition we are going to be taking a look at and installing the trailer mate custom tail light wiring kit for towed vehicles part number TM781124. Here's what this wiring is going to look like once it is installed on the vehicle. You've got your four flat connection here at the front which is going to provide you power and ground in order to power the lights at the rear of the towed vehicle with power coming from the motor home. It comes with a bracket to help you mount it, and it does also come with a dust cover to go over the four pull when not in use. This wiring kit teased directly into the factory connectors on the tail lights so there's no cutting or splicing required in order to install this system. It features built in diodes to help with overload protection and protect the vehicle's electrical system, and with this system you don't have to worry about it messing with the vehicle's electrical system when not being towed by the motor home. Now, let's go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our installation, we are going to go ahead and route the four pull wiring from underneath the rear of our vehicle all the way up to the front where we will mount our electrical connection. more

We have a bundle of 4-pole flat wiring here so we will run this to the front of our Jeep using this connector here, which is a 6-pole where the Flexo wiring here will connect to. Then we have the standard 7-way RV flat which will go in the back of the RV. We have several zip ties here to secure all of our wiring, and some wire loom mesh included as well in case we need to protect it from any moving parts or sources of heat. We also have an optional bracket here in case your tow bar base plate doesn't already have a spot to put your connector here, so this'll allow you to attach it. more

Inside, it contains diodes. Now, these diodes are designed to prevent back feeding, so we won't have any back feed coming from our RV into our towed vehicle, so we're not going to have to worry about any electrical issues there. Basically, this is going to provide us with the trailer signal that we need, or a plug-in, at the front of the vehicle to get the trailer signal from our motor home so it'll operate the lights on our vehicles we're heading down the road. Today on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we're going to show you the Hopkins custom taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles. Part Number HM56200. First off, we have this T-connector here, this one with the yellow wire goes to the left-hand side, or driver side. The T-connector here with the green wire goes over to the passenger side. This is our converter right here which takes our input from a 4 pole, that gets the power from the RV, goes through here and divides up to the wire harness, and to the tail lights. This long 4 pole wire harness will get ran underneath the vehicle all the way up towards the front, where it will be held in place by a spracket, also with its protective cover. more

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster universal high powered diode wiring kit, this is part number RM-154. To begin our installation we're going remove the passenger side and driver side tail light housings here, just a couple of phillips screws will hold those in. Take out the two closest to the middle here, we ought to be able to wiggle that and bring it right out. We'll separate our connector here by pressing in on the tab and then sliding it out. Set that aside for re-installation later, we'll do the same thing for the driver side. Now it's time to test our wires out here and figure out exactly what's what in the harness. more
